About the book:
The folktales collected here, from the Thimuay Mangura (young Subanon chief) Vicente Imbing,MD have real-life protagonists whom, Subanons believe, are as real as the river Lapuyan or Phingi Bay, where they now live.
Guardian giants roam the land while a boy receives earthly gifts from a quite unearthly being. A tribe connected in its rituals… and in concrete roads that they built themselves. Like the waters of Lapuyan Bay, the tale of the Subanons heave with the winds of change and circumstance, of the epic and the mundane. More than past retellings, they serve as reflections of the life of a people who remain elusive as they were nomadic… until now.
