Dreamscapes: The Art of Perfecto Mercado is an art-biographical book on Tarlac artist Perfecto Mercado (1950-2011). It is art history focused on a regional artist and his art. The book chronicles his pivotal life moments in relation to his art production and aims to show the beauty of his struggles as an artist and family man. Unschooled in art but full of passion, Mercado proved to himself his capacities to produce original pieces of art the quality of which can match the world’s best. The book of seven chapters and images of his art is a lesson on good values that will inspire the everyday man and more especially the struggling artist.

About the author:
Gari Apolonio is an artist and writer with a degree in Art History from the UP College of Fine Arts. He has published articles in local magazines and considers working with PWDs through the arts his personal advocacy. He taught art in the School of Design and Arts at CSB. His cultural work was shaped by his work at the Metropolitan Museum of Manila and his experience of the commercial art trade was molded in Now Gallery and Auctions. Currently, he works as Curator of Gateway Gallery, the art museum of Araneta Center, to steer its direction towards a leading and relevant museum.
