About the book:
The book covers various groups of plants from algae, mosses, fungi,ferns and fern-families and the flowering plants. It is intended as a general reference and guide for easy identification and naming of native and introduced plants in the Philippines, one of the most diverse and richest flora collection in the world.
Volume I is the alphabetical listing of the local plant names and their corresponding scientific names. For each entry the following items are included : local names, language, name of genus and specific epithet including subspecies,variety, or other unique identifiers.
Volume II is a cross-reference of the first part of the Dictionary and consists of alphabetically-arranged scientific names and their corresponding local names. It starts with the name of the genus followed by the name of the author and the family where the genus belongs.

About the Author:
Domingo A. Madulid holds a PhD in Botany from the University of Reading,UK and is presently scientist IV at the Botany Division of the National Museum Manila. He is the Chair of the Philippine Plant Specialist Group of the Species Survival Commission, IUCN. He has written several books and scientific articles on Philippine plants among which is the Pictorial Cyclopedia of Philippine Ornamental Plants.
